Durability/Longevity

Wolfin and Cosmofin are highly durable and resistant to weathering, chemicals, and UV light. This makes them an excellent choice for protecting Australian roofs that are often exposed to heavy rain and intense sunlight. Both of our PVC waterproofing systems can also resist the highly aggressive and damaging effects of salt from the coastal and harbour environments. These membranes are designed to last decades, reducing the need of frequent replacements and thus offering long-term cost savings. Here is an example out of thousands of projects where Wolfin is still working perfectly fine after 30 years!

Note: At the time of installation, the roof exhibited excessive ponding due to a fall of 1:100, which was compliant with the standards in effect at that time. Despite the presence of standing water, the waterproofing membrane demonstrated no loss of integrity or performance over time. Under current codes and best practice guidelines, a minimum fall of 1:80 is required to ensure adequate drainage. This can be achieved through the application of a graded screed or the use of tapered insulation systems, depending on project constraints and design requirements.

Flexibility

Wolfin and Cosmofin have great elongation properties and remain highly flexible throughout their lifetime, which allow them to accommodate the building’s movements and settling. This flexibility also makes them easier to install around roof penetrations like vents, pipes and drains providing a more secure fit. The flexibility of a roof waterproofing membrane is extremely important to avoid future complications.

According to independent NATA-certified testing, Wolfin achieved a Class III rating under AS4654.1 with 300% elongation at break, confirming its classification as a high-extensibility membrane. This result demonstrates that Wolfin performs at the very top of the allowable range.

Eco-Friendly

Wolfin and Cosmofin PVC waterproofing membrane are manufactured to be recyclable at the end of their lifespan, which is beneficial from an environmental perspective. Wolfin and Cosmofin products are resistant to roots (FLL Tested) and microorganisms, making them the ideal solution for green roofs or roofs exposed to such conditions.

Waterproof Integrity

The seams of Wolfin and Cosmofin membranes are heat-welded, to form a watertight bond that is stronger than the membrane itself, providing excellent waterproofing capabilities by preventing water ingress at joints.

Fully Adhered System Option

Both Wolfin and Cosmofin offer a fully adhered system option, which enhances their wind uplift resistance and overall stability on the roof. This option also reduces water tracking between the membrane and the substrate in the event of membrane damage, which significantly minimises the risk of consequential damages until the membrane is repaired.

Wolfin and Cosmofin achieve a fully bonded system in different ways. The premium Wolfin GWSK is the only self-adhesive PVC roofing membrane available in Australia, bonding directly to the substrate. Cosmofin, on the other hand, requires the use of an adhesive to fully bond the membrane to the substrate.

Strict Installation Process, Compliance and Standards

This section highlights the distinction between the installation of the premium Wolfin Polyester PVC Membrane and the Cosmofin PVC Membrane. Although both systems meet the highest industry standards, only the Wolfin installations are exclusively performed by certified Wolfin contractors under Projex’s Group strict oversight. Each Wolfin installation also undergoes a detailed inspection by Projex Group/Wolfin inspector before Projex Group issues a single point warranty covering both labour and material for 15 years.

  Wolfin and Cosmofin membranes meet the requirements set by Australian Standards for waterproofing materials AS 4654.1 – 2012. Wolfin IB and Cosmofin FGLL membranes also comply with the AS 4858 for Internal and Wet Areas. Additionally, the Wolfin system is designed to meet the AS4654.2 requirements.
