Once again, the Cosmofin waterproofing system has been specified & installed as the preferred waterproofing membrane to replace a failed liquid membrane on an exposed rooftop in Bronte. The Cosmofin membrane has been installed directly over the failed membrane system negating the need & costs associated with removing it.
Unfortunately, the poor initial choice of waterproofing products caused a lot of headaches for the building owner affecting the integrity of the structure and generating many costs in repairs.
Cosmofin LLV (Fleece Backed for adhering) PVC sheet membrane was the ideal solution for this application because the membrane is UV Stable & is not affected by the corrosive & aggressive salt air environment as well as exhibiting excellent elongation properties. The Cosmofin LLV has been bonded to the roof & terminated with its own stainless steel ancillary components providing a total waterproof system. Cosmofin membranes have been used on many installations over the last two decades providing long-term waterproofing & protection to a variety of different substrates.
Before undertaking any waterproofing project, it is very important to choose the right membrane & consider the numerous factors that can affect the performance & longevity of the chosen membrane.
These include (but are not limited to):
- type of substrate
- nature of environment
- finishes to be installed
- UV stability & movement capability of the membrane
Make sure you select a membrane that is fit for the purpose. Projex Group offer technical advice to ensure you don’t end up with the same costly exercise.
All Class Waterproofing, an experienced Wolfin/Cosmofin waterproofing applicator were engaged to carry out these remedial works. Whilst carrying out that project, All Class Waterproofing were also engaged by the builder working on an adjacent new building to install the Cosmofin Waterproofing System to their roof project.
Projex Group offered advice to the builder & owner concerning the integration of the Cosmofin membrane with the design & construction of the solar panels, hot water systems etc. that are to be installed onto the membraned roof.
