Sustainable Architecture: Five Reasons To Love Eco-Smart Designs

Architect Chris Baribeau is the co-founder of US based architectural design firm Modus Studio in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Modus Studio was involved in the design of ECO Modern Flats which incorporated the latest in energy and environmental design (LEED) for Homes Multifamily Platinum housing project in Fayetteville, for which Modus Studio was awarded US Green Building Council status.

Baribeau maintains that the experience of eco-design in modern architecture can be an inspiration to people going about their daily lives in a practical and sustainable way.

His design practice is modelled along the awareness of five fundamental influences that shape modern architectural sustainable design.

One of the drivers is the fact that humans love nature and seek to balance their need for modern comforts and being close to nature. Baribeau writes that sustainable modern architecture done well achieves this balance by blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces using sensual material palettes.

According to Baribeau a key part of sustainable design is healthy living energy efficiency and conservation of resources.

This is made possible by ensuring superior indoor air quality that can be comfortably controlled and a high level of energy and resource efficiency.
